As a Social Media Intern for our TikTok account, you will be the on-screen personality for our account, sharing carefully crafting summaries of key news articles each day and engaging with our followers and other accounts. You should be an active user of the platform, comfortable on camera, and willing to critical feedback to grow your public speaking and presentation skills. Our interns are expected to have a commanding grasp on the English language and the capability to identify the subtle use of language, framing, and sentiment that drives narratives in news media and online. Note: this is an unpaid role for a 90 day internship. We accept applications on a rolling basis for each internship period.
Responsibilities
- Create insightful summaries of news articles about current events in video format.
- Engage with followers, thought leaders, and news organizations to foster meaningful conversations.
- Monitor trends, influencers, and breaking news to ensure timely and relevant content.
- Analyze TikTok analytics to measure engagement and evolve our strategy.
- A 10 hour time commitment each week (~2 hours per day).
Qualifications
- Keen interest in news, politics, or media.
- Strong vocabulary and command of the English language.
- Comfortable with public speaking and being on camera.
- Awareness with TikTok trends, dynamics, and best practices.
- Familiartiy with video editing software like Capcut or others.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage deadlines.
Preferred
- College students studying media, communications, journalism, or artifical intelligence.
- Experience creating content for a social account on Instagram or other platforms.
- Experience with content creation tools like Figma, Adobe, Canva, Capcut, etc.
